Helmet Requirements
Hi,
I am planning on signing up for the ADS at Mosport in September (will be my first one). What are the helmet requirements, Snell SA or is M ok? Also, any recommended shops to pick one up in the GTA?

We only require an "M" you do not need an "SA"

SA stands for Special Application
I know that in Arai's case (having spoken to them) the SA helmets they have are the exact same spec (meets SNELL requirements) but SA has Nomex inside for the fireproof requirement of auto racing (just like the firesuits, shoes, socks, balaclava and gloves) whereas the M is designed with a "tougher" interior which, since it isn't nomex can have sweat managing materials and anti-stinky materials in it.
My recommendation (although I wear a SA) is that if the clubs/groups you are running with and plan to run with (like Trillium) don't require an SA don't buy one, they are more expensive, often by double, and actually not as comfortable to sweat in - I wear a special sports Balaclava under my helmet that wicks moisture when I don't need the fireproof nature of the SA - which is almost all the time.
Snell SA 2005. Any motorsport shop would carry them. I picked up my HJC from JRP in Oakville but I am shure there are places closer to Toronto. The club does have helmets for rent as well during these events if you are interested.
